The prompt of this project was to create the cover art for the short story “Kaleidoscope”, by Ray Bradbury. With the short story being about astronauts and only briefly mentioning the idea of a kaleidoscope as one character drifts off into space, I chose to combine both of these aspects when designing my cover. On the front side of the cover, the theme of space is combined with abstract spiraling shapes that aim to replicate an actual kaleidoscope as well as to look like an otherworldly object. The back side of the cover serves to reveal a bit more about the grim story with a severed limb and a dead astronauts helmet along side an accompanying description.
